The Time You Are Gone
I miss your smile
The time you are gone
You’re on my mind
Like a favorite song
The time you are gone
And yet near too
As thoughts and dreams
Still lie with you
Anticipation
My only fate
The time you are gone
Each hour I wait
The time you are gone
In good deeds meant
I know the path
It’s time well spent
But when I see your eyes again
My sunshine in the spreading dawn
I will have you back again
The time be past
When you were gone.

What is your most heartfelt prayer for your child? For me, it is that each of my children would have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We can’t expect the church to teach our children everything that they need to know. Instead, we must take steps to make sure that our children understand the plan of salvation.
The children’s book, I Believe In Jesus: Leading Your Child to Christ, by John MacArthur is a handy tool to use with your children. I read this book with my daughters, and I whole-heartedly recommend it. I believe that it is helpful in explaining why people need to be forgiven by God and how they can be forgiven. It helps children understand the big picture, starting way back in the Garden of Eden with the first sin. It then progresses to the birth of Christ, His death and resurrection, and finally it explains the free gift of salvation that God wants to give them.

I hope you take some time this Fourth of July to thank a veteran for his or her service to our country. Our security comes only through their sacrifice. This is an important concept to teach to our children. They need to understand that what we hold dear is seldom held without some cost. You can’t teach this concept like you might teach math or grammar. They will need to hear stories about sacrifices, or see sacrifices that you make. Then they will have a better appreciation of what freedom is. And not just our physical freedom. This is a perfect opportunity to teach them of the freedom that Christ gave us when he sacrificed all for us.
If you have a veteran you would like to send a card to, you can download the pdf and print it out. After printing, fold into four parts.
